As I return to school and teaching, this is something I hope to remember throughout the year...ART, Where Every Child is a Masterpiece. There are times when I am rushed to finish a project and get the students out the door so the next group may come in the art room. Sometimes it feels as though I am herding cattle in and out instead of actually teaching art to wonderful students.  I feel my job is set the foundation for a life long love of art, as much as it is to teach them the standards set before me by my state. I am here to introduce my primary age students to art, to instill a confidence for making art in them, and to teach them the fundamentals of the art elements and principles. However, while doing all these things, I need to remember they are just children, and these are masterpieces I am creating. As long as we have fun, learn a bit and make some art we are successful! So hope all you art teachers out there have lots of fun this year and that you enjoy being with your masterpieces.

Just checking in on the thesis blog...it's still here! Lots of changes this year in the jobs of the teachers who started this blog...some have had some life changes. Me, I am still being allowed to teacher art, but with budget cuts the masters pay is helping me make exactly what I did make. Good thing I didn't do all that work just for the money...I did it for myself and for the kids I teach.
We can't bring ourselves to delete this blog...it holds some sentimental value...we created valuable friendships along the way, we created powerful women and artists along the way and we created new ways of thinking about many things in education and in our daily walks of life.
Welcome to our new follower...we are up to 5...amazing since this is just a blog created to represent a web site of sorts for our thesis project.
To all followers you are also welcome to beam over to http://artteachergirl.blogspot.com and visit More Powerful Beyond Measure...a blog of random thoughts, blessings, art and junking.

THIS BLOG WAS CREATED AS PART OF MY THESIS, AND FROM TIME TO TIME I STOP BY TO CHECK ON IT. THERE ARE SEVERAL REASONS I WORKED AND COMPLETED MY MASTERS DEGREE...A RAISE IN PAY WAS NOT THE THE TOP ONE, BUT IT WAS THE ICING ON THE CAKE HOWEVER. I NEEDED TO DO SOMETHING FOR MYSELF, I NEEDED A CHALLENGE AND I NEEDED TO GROW PROFESSIONALLY AND PERSONALLY. THIS BLOG LOOKS LIKE IT IS GETTING ALONG FINE, AND SO AM I AND MY CO HORT LADIES...WE'VE MOVED ON, BUT WE KEEP IN TOUCH AND WE ARE ALL ENJOYING BEING SOMEONE WITH A MASTERS DEGREE!
